Update on last traffic violation.

I posted my last rant about my last traffic violation here.

I'll quote from the Penalty Charge Notice issued by Southwark Council:

"Notice is hereby served to the owner of vehicle registration mark [my number plate]
for the alleged contravention of FAILING TO COMPLY WITH A NO ENTRY SIGN that is in RYE LANE SE15. Contravention date 09/07/08 at 19:52.
The alleged contravention was detected by 0495 camera and has been recorded on video tape.

DO NOT IGNORE THIS NOTICE.

A penalty charge of £120.00 is payable and must be paid before the end of the period of 28 days beginning with the date of service of this notice. If the penalty charge is paid before the end of the period of 14 days beginning with the date of service of this notice, the amount of the penalty charge will be reduced by 50%. If you fail to pay the penalty charge or make representations before the end of the period of 28 days beginning with the date of service of this notice, a charge certificate may be issued to the registered keeper/owner of the vehicle increasing the penalty charge by a further 50% (less monies already recieved). Failure to pay the increased amount may result in a county court order against you and a warrent being issued to bailiffs."

Here's a rather bad photo of the sign just before you get to Rye Lane.

Unfortunately I've already paid the f*cking fine. The attendent menaces within the council's letter rather impelled me to pay sooner than later.

I want my money back, and am thinking of issuing a 28 day notice to Southwark Council, else I shall call the bailiffs in. Arseholes.

Oh, and for the record, the apostrophe was in "bailiffs" in the last sentence.

There is no escape from the grammar police (or the Wiltshire police, apparently).

Some of us don't copy edit: this is just the way I write. Most of the time it's pretty good; sometimes I screw up. Often, life's too short for excessive nit-picking. (But not always.)

Handbags at dawn!

I can't edit my own writing either (I read what I should have written not what is actually there) and consequently I frequently bugger things up, but I am blessed (if that's the word) with an uncanny ability to notice other people's mistakes, and a great desire to mock at every opportunity. This also affords me the chance to get the first blow in before someone points out that I wasn't thinking and have written, for example, You're instead of Your.

If it helps, think of it as helping me get through the day with a smile - that way you can also claim that you did it on purpose to cheer me up.

It don't bother me none, as the saying is: take the piss to your heart's content. But ten years down the line I'll remind you of it in less than perfect circumstances, and in public....as you well know.

C'est la vie, m'dear. May it be less horrible than you think.

£60 and three points. Definitely less horrible than I thought.
