Please don't look to the US for general educational ideas, save as a caution. Funding is misallocated, the people involved are mismanaged, the structure is flawed, the wrong goals are set, illogical strategy is endemic, and perverse incentives utterly riddle the system, from the earliest childhood through to the top of the universities.

Our top schools are truly top of the line, and perhaps their excellence is only due to their people and culture, not to their structure.
