Ah well.
I've mentioned this once or twice before, but now it looks like the important folk are recognising it too.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7092053.stm

Now this report has been accused as being partisan. It is, after all, a Democrat report. However, and I quote from it:

The Democrats calculate that between 2002 and 2008 the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan will have cost the average US family of four about $20,900.
The report adds that the amount could rise to $46,400 over the next decade.

Now whether true or not, at least it's a figure we can start with. Given that the US doesn't have an auditing of it's spending, this argument could go on for years.

Isn't it about time that the US taxpayers deserved audited accounts of how their money is spent? After all, how else are you going to know if you've got value for your tax-dollar?

I only make about half of that each year, isn't that sickening?

Actually, it's been done. And the results were rather embarrassing.

...Yeah, maybe another audit would be a good idea.

No surprise at all.
none whatsoever.

And they wonder why they have financial problems?
*sigh*
