I'm so sorry for your friend. I know folks who were also hit by Madoff; he is slime, and everything he owned should be sold and redistributed. I'm sorry, his wife who benefitted from his frauds for years should live in a rent controlled apartment with utilities and furniture etc, but should not be allowed to continue to live in luxury either.
