Good gig yesterday.
Tina Charles (remember her: 'I love to love, but my baby just wants to dance', but only English, Commonwealth, and European folk will know the tune) got up to sing a number with the band as she was a guest at the party. We played 'Nutbush City Limits' and she sang brilliantly....erk. Fantastic top-end. A blast, m'dears, a total blast. Then the band busked its way through 'I love to love', which was pretty damn amusing actually.
Apparently she has just finished a new album.
38 million sales of 'I love to love'. Pretty good pension, I reckon. Gods, I wish I'd got my act together a bit earlier in life.
Session in TPA today for a songwriter called Mark Bethune, who in his other life is a movie-maker. 4 songs in 4 hours.
Do good things. Help your fellow man. Stand up and be counted.

Date: 2008-07-14 09:43 am (UTC)Are you really giving up your flat ? (You'll let it, I suppose.)
I'm running up to a series of gigs with my belgian organist (+ drummer) which begins in about 10 days. We'll be doing Blue-Note organ-trio stuff in nice bars for tourists. Should be nice. I'll take my 335 and my telecaster. The organist has a B3 and a big Leslie. We'll be recording at a friend's studio too, a real gent called Chris Crutchley, who came over here about 3 years before I did. Hope you have a nice summer, will you be taking a holiday with your belovèd ?

Date: 2008-07-14 11:36 am (UTC)Hols this year. Invite to Fra and Cressy's villa in Portugal (a week in August) and then another looking at the architecture of Palladio, which means Northern Italy (my choice). Yay! However, I don't normally go abroad becuase of 'green' issues and general laziness. Would love to sorjourn in Northern France for a bit, but probably not this year.
Glad the band are gigging and recording.
Power to the Ankh elbow.
