A letter from the Revenue landed on my doormat this morning. Erk. They want to know exact figures for 2005-2006, which have only thus far been estimated.
The last person who had that file open was my Dad, who despite his terminal illness, insisted on running over my figures (and correcting them when required). I can't find where he put it when he'd finished with it. I could be in small amounts of shit over this. Not great amounts, because without Dad's help and assistance over the past four years, I would have been completely potless, and even the revenue understand about industries in 'transition' (read decline), but still temporarily embarrassed, and having to clean the crap off my shoes.
Anyway, I spoke to them over the 'phone and they told me they'd accept the estimates if required, but they (the estimates, that is) wouldn't do me any good as my income had probably been less than estimated (I'd pretty much stopped working for all of 2006, including the three months that fell into the tax year 2005-2006) but I'd still pay the same tax.
Bugger.
Will search for file amongst Dad's stuff.
Still no job.
The mother is q. down at present.
I need to get my passport sorted.
Amused at Ankh's description of his life. There is some hope for us older dudes before the zimmer frame and colostomy become the compass of our existence.

Date: 2007-01-15 11:25 pm (UTC)Don't worry, I wouldn't dream of trying to not pay the Revenue what they want. It's just they've told me that they'll take my estimates as fact, and I know those estimates included projected work that I never did, for obvious reasons.
But one begins to understand the need for a proper job. Oh joy.
