Well done GWB.
I never thought I'd hear that man say those things about Israel and Palestine.
If even GWB realises that the Israelis haven't being playing fair, just imagine what things must really be like.
We've let this state of affairs go on too long, and it has damaged us in our relations with all of the Arab world; not that that would matter to many, that is unless the Arabs get so pissed off that they sell all their oil to China and India instead of us: which does seem to be Al Qaeda's long-term strategy, and is one we should sidestep if possible.
The two state solution works for Israel, else they can't be a democracy with a majority Arab population.
Well the Arabs are outbreeding the Israelis - the same thing happened with Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland: the Brits had to wait for many years until the numbers equalled, and under democratic principles Catholics had enough votes to form a government. Only then were the Proddy 'No Surrender' parties forced to the table. And we Brits couldn't mediate for ourselves, we needed the US to do it for us, as the US was the only power both sides in the conflict trusted. Now, of course, Paisley and McGuinness are best pals. Maybe, if we're lucky, this can happen to the Palestinians and Israelis.
Fingers crossed that this is the start of something better for the region.
I owe GWB a drink. And I shall refrain from criticising him further (unless he does something especially silly).
