I'm pleased to see that the US has woken up to the danger of the Tories' EU partners, and the marginalisation of British influence that the Tories' stance on things will bring to the EU negotiating table when they become the government.
That the US and UK stand together on many issues is not in doubt. That the US would like the UK at the heart of Europe, and influencing policy therein is not in doubt to most sane British folk. However, the Tories are beginning to show themselves as being almost as mad as the Republican Party in the US. Cameron has been, and no doubt will be, a voice of sanity in the Conservative and Unionist party: but he has to get the loonies under control, and he has to rejoin the European People's party grouping in the EU Parliament.
Voting alongside Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarközy de Nagy-Bocsa is surely preferable to voting alongside a bunch of Waffen-SS apologists. And if the Tory party don't see that, they are not worthy of government. In fact if they don't see that soon, well before a general election, I'm going to do everything in my limited power to ensure they don't have a significant majority. This may not be much, but I doubt that I'll be alone.
