Half a league...
Spent a lot of today trying to set up Mum's new computer. Gods, I don't remember most of this. Had to ask advice from Stephen about where her email might be. The delights of dbxconv.exe await as long as I can locate the hidden files with a .dbx extension. But mother's old computer's file structure...
Oh well, that's tomorrow sorted, I suppose.
I should watch my mouth/pen/keyboard sometimes, especially as I'm still over-reacting like mad to just about everything: especially silly women like Jade Goody. It's not her fault she's dim. But at least she's apologised.
Bloody good full-page advert in the Independent:
An open letter to Jade Goody and friends from the Indian Tourism Office.
Incredible !ndia
Dear Jade Goody,
Once your current commitments are over may we invite you to experience the healing nature of India.
Being one of the world's oldest civilisations, our land is one where the ancient and the modern co-exist and a multitude of religions live in harmony. We have a modern thriving culture and offer an amazing wealth of soghts and sounds, tastes and textures making our country a place like no other.
With everything from bustling cosmopolitan cities to the quiet countryside, we have destinations that offer a backdrop of unmatched beauty. Our country is blessed with everything from snow capped mountains and crystal glaciers to thick forests rich in wildlife and long sandy coastlines, offering something for everyone.
As a beauty therapist, you may be especially interested in visiting one of the many spas where you can cleanse your stresses away, enjoy yoga in the land that invented it and experience Ayurvedic healing which promotes health and natural beauty.
The best way to understand Incredible India is to visit and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Indian Tourism Office.
I think they've offered her a way back, from the kindness of their hearts. With a little humility, if she went to India, she could just about redeem herself.
I want to live somewhere where people think like that. Until very recently I thought it was the England I knew. Not so certain now.
I'll avoid the valley of the shadow and do my best to be as sunny as poss.
Cressy and Fra have asked me over for Easter.
Yes, but only if the Ma is sorted and reasonably comfortable and content.
(I only get a social life when I've put everything in place to cover my absence, but this will change when Ma gets a bit better sorted.)
