Today is the 4th of July.
On this day, a couple of centuries or so ago, the American colonies declared independence. Shame and all that. Still, congratters to the Yanks for sloughing off the colonial yoke.
But rather more importantly to me; on this day, six years ago, Æ was born. Whatever else has happened between Fred and me, how can I ever be other than grateful for the unexpected onset of fatherhood in late middle-age? (When the knees don't creak, obvs, and the worries about incipient mortality don't overwhelm.)
In my world today is Millie's day. Alas, it is a school day and I shall not see her until this evening. And she is going to be spoiled rotten with presents from everyone. Must make sure H doesn't feel left out.
