I'm getting lazier and not posting much....this would be fine if I had a life, but....
Yesterday I saw Steve K away from his normal environs of TPA. He was at Alan's studio, which is well out of the centre of town, South of the River, in the leafy suburbs. The three of us hung out for most of the afternoon: me with a guitar, the two of them talking business. The game may be afoot, as our Sherlock once opined: and this would be a good thing. But given the transformations in the music business, and in my part of it, I'm going to have to reconcile myself to becoming a full-time live musician, rather than someone who comes up with ideas in a backroom somewhere. Adapt or die: and as I'm not yet quite ready for my six feet of English earth, so I shall adapt.
So I need to find a bassist and drummer based in the centre or the South of London. Time to advertise, I think. Then book a rehearsal room to audition folk.
I hate running a band. I just want to play....and not the same notes I played yesterday. If I'm doing it for money, it's a different thing, but I want to play the notes I deem right, in the place where I want to put 'em. Hubris, I know, but Hubris should have been one of my middle names. (I got stuck with Francis and Stephen - two saints names: one who talked to the animals, and the other the first Christian martyr. I often feel I'm talking to animals, but I would never care to be a martyr of any sort.)
If it's the only way of playing what I want, I shall have to run a band.
Good luck to France for Saturday, but may you lose nevertheless.
