When John Betjeman was in his seventies, and the Grand Old Knight of English Verse was asked by some impertinent young whippersnapper what he'd have done differently in his life (given the chance) He said something along the lines of 'I wish I'd had more sex'. He spoke for most of us, no doubt; and I suppose that even in my most misanthropic and misogynist moments I'd agree with him. (Though what that says about my own levels of self-delusion seems worrying.)
I've been thinking about sex quite a bit of late, and then serendipitously, ankh156posted about Houellebecq, so now I'm bent on a new reading and rereading project, as all I have read of him thus far is 'Atomised' in translation a few years ago.
Relationships are a different matter: though I have been thinking about them too. I really think that it will take something special to wake me from my torpor now, and to be quite candid: I'd prefer an easy life, all things considered

At this point in my life I'd for sure agree with Betjeman. But maybe that'll change.

I have not read Houellebecq, but am interested in doing so.
