About this:

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/apr/08/trump-removes-secret-service-director-homeland-security

And I said:

"Now I guess he will have to purge all the Intelligence/Security Services under his jurisdiction. Then he can ensure there are no challenges to his narrative of events... ...And when Trump has purged the security services and put his own folk in place I guess he will be the one dictating how the history of these events is told from here on in."

Today I find this in my newspaper:

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jul/28/dan-coats-trump-director-national-intelligence

The other interesting thing is Trump appears to have like-minded folk in power in three of the five eyes network; and I can't see Canada rocking the boat. I hope our Intelligence agencies know what sort of predicament they could be in. And I hope Jacinda Arden remains bulwark of reason and sense.

The Don has said if a foreign power offered dirt on 2020 opponent "I'd want to hear it".

I wonder does that include friendly intelligence agencies like the Five Eyes network? I do hope so. I'm sure they have lots of info on various folk.

Wherein we find that:

"Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will remove the Secret Service director, Randolph “Tex” Alles, from his position, as one anonymous official described “a near-systematic purge” at the Department of Homeland Security."

The pretext for this is apparently border security and catching a Chinese lass with dodgy equipment and computer viruses in the Donald's private resort, the latter of which appears to be a success - they caught the lass, after all.

Now I guess he will have to purge all the Intelligence/Security Services under his jurisdiction. Then he can ensure there are no challenges to his narrative of events.

As we now know (ahem) there was no collusion; just folk joining in with the chorus because it is so catchy.

And when Trump has purged the security services and put his own folk in place I guess he will be the one dictating how the history of these events is told from here on in. Excepting of course that he can't change the people in the rest of the Five Eyes network, and they all know what's been going on.

I predict the Five Eyes network will have to get dismantled as well, because I doubt Trump can persuade the other security networks not under his jurisdiction to forget all the info they have on him and his election. If he throws the Five Eyes network under a bus to preserve his version of events we will know just what sort of patriot he is.

It has to be said that the Home Office is a place where folk who like telling people to fuck off congregate; and I suppose if they can do that to a High Commissioner in the F.O. then the poor blighters without Mr Snell's connections or status will get told to fuck off quite a lot more. With manacles if the Home Office can get away with it. And detention centres. Maybe a little barbed wire spread around, just for the look of it. Armed machine gun posts? I've never been a good interior designer, and I suppose concentration camps detention centres partake of unusual accoutrements. What counts as proper fascist bling in these circumstances, I wonder: uniforms designed by Hugo Boss? motorcycles with sidecars and armed outriders? maybe an armoured car or two?

What about the numbers deported? The peoples lives made misery? The jobs lost, the families sundered, the alienation of folk forced to move from their homes and friends and support network, and the country which they have always known as home?

Let's call a fascist a fascist, shall we? We allow our fascists in the Home Office and Police Force and Prison Service because for some reason or other they have a zeal for telling folk to fuck off, or do this, or do that. And then, instead of controlling those nasty tendencies with sensible discipline and oversight in order to keep the Home Office honest, we have allowed them to run riot; aided and abetted by the usual suspects from the top down. It is not strange that historically right-wing newspapers are still right-wing, though their influence is diminishing exponentially in the face of new media. What is both strange, and appalling, is that even when she was Home Secretary, Mrs May should have had a "Sir Humphrey" to steer her away from such evil stupidness, and either she didn't, or she ignored him or her. None of us are Nostradamus (and even he wasn't, so to speak) but it doesn't take a lot of foresight to realise that such policies will come back to bite you somewhere you don't want to be bitten.

So. Now I have a choice. Do I vote for Corbyn, who would rather believe the Russian intelligence services over the UK's, the US's, the French, the Germans, or the Five Eyes network? Or do I vote for a party with recent quasi-fascist policies?

And that's even before the lunacy that is Brexit.

Our country is pretty well fucked as of now. There will be no long slow decline and managed transition into a more sensible position in the world. We shall plummet like a stone dislodged from a bridge. One thing I will say to the right-wing wankers and Brexiteers which has to be said; if the steep decline of Britain and the UK follows on from your policies, you will have failed the one institution you always swore to uphold - you will have failed HM by diminishing her realm.
