I'm in Alan's studio. Vocals are being recorded, so I've a few minutes to myself.

'Phone call from Stephen last night: he has amended his necessary and sufficient conditions for stepping out with a person of the female persuasion. Though the way he worded it was slightly different. "I think as long they're not mad, you should be prepared to step out with anyone that shows the remotest interest: after all, beggars can't be choosers." [My italics.]

He is so kindly sometimes. His concern for his chums is so humbling. I wish I could find some way of reciprocating such kindness.....shall think on't, and after pondering, will hope to stumble upon something suitable.

I think I need to find myself an Eliza Doolittle before the bet, so to speak, and invite Stephen around for tea. Someone steeped in Esturine culture would no doubt be an eye opener for S. Preferably a really well-educated Janet Street-Porter type. Or perhaps an Australian lass would do much the same sort of job.

Oh for goodness sakes. It's spring. You all live in the same city (more or less). Tea ought to happen and perhaps someone will hit it off with someone and if not then there's always some laughter to be had and a good story to tell.

Stephen doesn't do hitting. (Neither do I actually, but that's by the bye.) But he does tea from time to time. And has been known both to laugh and promote laughter.
But I shall have to find for myself some foriegn or otherwise 'unacceptable' lass I feel.

i think it is all about having the right balance of sameness and difference. there is an erotic of both, but having enough of both seems to me to be the way forward.. just wish it was a bit easier to order up.

But I could invite you too, and you and S could be appalled at my taste in folk.
