Saw this: http://arts.guardian.co.uk/art/visualart/story/0,,2263402,00.html?gusrc=rss&feed=40 about a National Portrait Gallery exhibition.
Why didn't men appreciate clever women? Was it because most men were a bit dim and couldn't stand the challenge? Hmmm.
The one thing I can say about every chap I've befriended on LJ is that they do appreciate clever women. Perhaps now in the 21st Century men will finally realise that they're better off with an equal in their life, than a dependent.
Lately, I've tried spending time on Facebook, but I find I prefer the ways of doing things here rather more. There appear to be lots of nice people on Facebook: whereas LJ appears to be full of folk who write, which attracts me more, I think.
When next in Town at TPA I shall take some time off for lunch and I will go to the National_Portrait_Gallery and wander around looking at pictures of intellectual heroines from history, perhaps even in the hope of bumping into a modern day version thereof. But I shan't be too disappointed should I fail.
When I get back from Cannes....

Date: 2008-03-08 10:03 pm (UTC)I'm not talking money, either. Anyone I share my bed with should be entitled to half my kingdom. And that includes thinking....
I am no longer a young man given to experience for its own sake. I am unlikely to have kids, and may well be too set in my ways to adapt well to their presence: ergo I would seek me a comfortable life of mind and body with some like-minded lass.
It's spring.....

Sorry if I've gone on a bit. Bit more prickly than usual, most bizarrely.

I need you to need me..."
You dare argue with the prophetic voice? :)

Date: 2008-03-08 11:52 pm (UTC)Well, anyway, there seems one other problem sorted in a limited fashion: folk are learning, as must I.
I do however not make apologies for being me: that would be inappropriate. I shall just be me without bothering anyone else. And I should hate to be without wit, m'dear.

Date: 2008-03-09 12:40 am (UTC)As for the other things, I suppose these disturbances works both ways, just with different effects. As with all these things there is inevitably some feedback. Look at remote prayer. Non-rational stuff if ever I heard of it, but which nevertheless coincides with statistical anomalies.
I wonder how much of the Music biz runs off this sort of applied charisma? How else does one explain boy bands? In fact, how much of life is in thrall to the charismatic? I fear I may well be guilty of the overuse of such a quality: it is a bit like beauty I suppose, and folk just end up doing things to please one. It's certainly a trap the lazy can fall into.
In this particular case I blame the season. And just like one can't sue Old Nick for his damnable crossroads franchise, one can't sue Nature for reminding one of ones capacity for stupid behaviour.
Hope young Rockstar is knocking 'em out with his brilliance.

Sounds like a good outing. I do hope you meet someone who fits that bill, either now or at some point before the May-bells ring :)
