Personal stuff: update.
Oct. 31st, 2008 11:24 amAs those close readers of my blog may have noticed, I shall be getting married next March. (It wasn't a conventional proposal; more of a general agreement; and no she didn't twist my arm, and I didn't blackmail her into it either.)
I can't as yet afford an engagement ring suitable to Madame's status, but will search out a sapphire to match her eyes, and pawn or sell whichever guitars required to finance such. Fra suggested Tanzanite, but as a stone it's a bit fragile (like Emerald) and so thinking about it, perhaps not.
There will be no announcement in 'The Times', 'Telegraph', or 'Guardian'. Invitations will be sent out after Christmas. It will be a Registar Office do, and not in tails or formal dress: lounge suits or casual I feel. The wedding itself will also be small and restricted to immediate family, but there will be a big party afterwards for both of our families and as many of our chums as care to attend.
And no, the wedding will not be televised, or videoed, or sponsored by Coca-Cola, or appear in the pages of 'Hello' magazine with exclusive photos by Annie Leibowitz, David Bailey, or Cartier-Bresson (especially as he's dead). There will be no photos on this blog, either. I rather hope this will be the only mention of it for some time.
(Apologies to Gil Scott Heron.)
Go well and do good things. For those in the US, don't forget to vote.
