Perusing my morning paper over a cup of the brew that cheers these two stories leapt off the front page:

www.guardian.co.uk/society/2010/oct/28/housing-benefit-cap-plan-backfire

www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/oct/28/uk-boardroo-pay-soars

Just a couple of signposts on the road to let us all know where we're heading.

But but but we can't tax boardrooms and we can't subsidise the poor. However we can subsidise the wealthy and give them assistance in whatever moves they make to exploit, reap profit, or sequestrate monies, goods, property and rights from those with very little to start with.

I reckon I'll be a screaming communist by the end of this year....me and Boris too, probably.

This is why we need governments and oversight and regulation:

The BP Deepwater Horizon spill has been a salutary lesson in pointing out the oil industry's inability to regulate themselves, much in the same way that the banking crisis showed that banks were incapable of sound behaviour without regulation.

However, we're not going to regulate either. Trebles all round, last man left standing is the winner.

Am picking up SWMBO and driving up to the Kid Bro's in two hours time. Leaving for home early Sunday morning as we have to look at our prospective house again before putting in a bid.

Go well etc...

So I bought the new Philip Kerr  Bernie Gunther novel yesterday.

Pretty good, rather than as extraordinarily brilliant as the first three collected together in the 'Berlin Noir' compendium: but I don't think it will appeal to our American chums much, as they are cast as, if not the villains, at least not the heroes, in a pretty definite way. Mind you the Soviets, French, and Brits don't come out of it much better: nor do the majority of Germans. Oh well, there's humans for you.
