Dec. 1st, 2019 03:55 pmSo I ordered a new replacement neck for my number one Strat. Roasted maple, “C” shape profile, 22 frets. I’ll take it to Feline guitars to get it switched over and then we will speak about the refret of the original neck. If I like the new, temporary replacement neck I may put it on the number two Strat when the number one is refretted. The number two has a 21 fret neck which, although original spec, isn’t quite as usable as a lead instrument; it is actually astonishing how many lines require a bent top D to top E - and not all of them David Gilmour’s.
I also put in a bid for a smaller amp on eBay. One that will work well with my Helix: the Line6 DT25. Else I may get myself a Line6 Powercab+. You can’t really put a large rig in a Prius. The old rig of Marshall half-stack, Blackface Fender Twin, old fashioned pedalboard the size and shape of a Victorian child’s coffin, and various assorted cases of leads and spares etc just wouldn’t fit in it; nor would my back cope with the loading and unloading. My more modern hybrid rig still has a large upright 2x12” 45wt 80lb monstrosity that sounds unbelievably good as its amplification. This isn’t very modern of me. I’m going to find a smaller 1x12” powered cab of some kind; either a DT25 or a PC+. A slimmed-down rig suits my venerability.
