Frankly i like functional things. Ani likes cute cosy ornaments, but not bordering on kitsch. Which is prolly why our countryhouse looks simplistic and unimpressive from the outside, and pretty ornamented on the inside; while our actual new home here is a very nice looking house (somewhat older style, while being brand newly built), while inside its mostly functional. Compromise is essential for harmony :)
