Today I took delivery of the new Ardbeg Committee bottling called Alligator.

It is limited to two bottles per Committee member, so I bought two: one I shall lay down for the boy, and one I shall drink with chums, starting tomorrow.

Anyone can become a Committee member: just sign up. However the distillery can't ship to much of Europe and North America because of EU and US tax rules, alas.

Ardbeg: to my mind the best of Islay.

Nah. Not my rules.
And if you lived in South Africa or Australia you wouldn't have this problem. There must be some way of getting hold of it in the US....via Canada perhaps? I'll look into it for you.

I've had great success with Lagavulin 16, when it comes to Islay Scotches.

I have an open bottle of Lagavulin 16 in my drinks cabinet. I like Lagavulin very much. I quite like Laphroiag. I like Bowmore and Bruichladdich and I really like Caol Ila.

I love Ardbeg.

Couldn't wait so I cracked it open.

Reminds me a little of the Lagavulin Double-Cask but deeper....

If you can get hold of a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan I'd recommend it more than this one, good as it is.

I'm not exclusively married to Islay. I quite like Highland Park and Longrow/Springbank, although Springbank is not exactly easy to find in Texas. It's very potent and tasty for such a light Scotch.
