Personal update

I don't quite know how to put this....it seems we have a nanny for young Henry. Obviously I'm not to be trusted with his upbringing, being more likely than not to cram his day full of Latin irregular verbs, Shakespeare, twentieth century poets, and Bach; when what he actually needs is someone to play with him. Nevertheless, there's always the weekends.
Anyway, I think we were tremendously lucky, as we seemed to have found the most amazing woman. This really does mean I'm going to have to go out to work ASAP to make my contribution to young Henry's upkeep. Again one must admire SWMBO for playing such a strong hand: the fact that she's right doesn't alter the indignity of it all.
I am to be a wage-slave to supplement my rental income to enable us to afford aforementioned nanny, and then school fees. I always knew it would come to this, but, at last I can avoid it no longer: at the ripe old age of almost fifty I now have to renounce a lifetime's effort in remaining juvenile and irresponsible, and don an adult's mien. Oh, the horror, the horror.
Still, I had a pretty good run at it. And actually, given it's for Henry, and the right thing for Henry, I'm just slightly amused in an ironical way by it all: as is proper, I suppose.
