Ulcer, apparently, not appendicitis. Don't know whether that's a relief or not. He's been discharged.

Who'd be a schoolteacher? Even in the holidays the little brutes still haunt you.

Well at least he didn't need surgery. He just needs to follow instructions and remove stress from his life for a while. Which, would overall be a good thing for him in the long run with or without the ulcer.

Thanks for your good thoughts, m'dear. How he's going to avoid stress when he goes back to school in September I have no idea. Oh well, we all have our monkeys, as the saying goes.

Well, given the choice--and it's not much of a choice--an ulcer is probably less trouble, though just as painful, I'm told. But at least they could let him go home.

I think it depends on the age of the students. Age 9-13, mostly volatile. Younger or older than that, not quite as much.

Alas, in Blighty they are all nasty little thugs until about 30, or marriage: whichever comes sooner. And the boys are just as bad.
