Sep. 12th, 2007 05:58 pmFinished Starwell. Quite brilliant: also ephemeral and throwaway. Lightness and elegance is all in a certain kind of living and writing. Wodehouse has it. Anthony Powell has it. Waugh was too savage. Bonfiglioli and Willie Donaldson spring to mind, too.
Panshin is an overlooked writer of some comic genius if this novel is anything to go by.
