Gigging tonight at the Dorchester.
The 'get in' is always so horrible, and parking is even worse. Will have to get my congestion charge sorted before I go in. I might call in at the Studio and see Steve before I head for the Soundcheck.
I haven't practised enough this week, so it might all go tits up, as the phrase is. Hope not.
At last year's Ball my amp blew up. I pray I have no kit problems tonight.
Also shall have to pay proper respects to Miladies Euterpe, Terpsichore, and Erato. (It is a dance band, and the Ball is for The Corporation of Ireland....Irish and English grandees vying with each other to spend the largest amount of money for charitable purposes.)
There may even be an intelligent, attractive, and elegant woman present, without an escort.
Unlikely, but one can live in hope.

The dance band has a couple of gigs coming up in Cannes, in March. I have to get my passport sorted. I don't know if we'll fly, or drive, or take the train as yet. If I drive, I may call in on [personal profile] ankh156  and take him out for lunch.

May you all be well.

Thalia seethes at your neglect.

Now she will blow your amp up*. We'll see some comedy then.

Thalia has no need to seethe....she is a constant companion, and my novel was dedicated to and informed by her. Comic novels are always hers.
I believe the phrase is 'horses for courses'. Which is why there are Nine Ladies now.
According to Pausanius there were three: Aoidē, Meletē, and Mnēmē.
Delphi recognised Three muses, too: Netē, Mesē, and Hypatē.
Sometimes they were called Cēphisso, Apollonis, and Borysthenis.
Another tradition recognised four Muses: Thelxinoē, Aoedē, Archē, and Meletē, said to be daughters of Zeus and Plusia.
One of the persons associated with the Muses was Pierus. By some he was called the father (by a Pimpleian nymph: called Antiope by Cicero) of a total of seven Muses, called Neilo, Tritone, Asopo, Heptapora, Achelois, Tipoplo, and Rhodia. However, According to Hesiod, the nine daughters of Pierus (the Pierides) were turned to Magpies for insulting the Nine Ladies.
One for Sorrow
Two for Joy...

Any way, the amp didn't blow up, but five songs into the gig, the bass player broke his 'A' string. And he didn't have a spare....
Thankfully, he's a pro, and made it through the gig without it noticing too much....kudos to Mark.

May laughter be with you.

Ah, that's good.

Some laughter would be nice. Soon, I hope...
