What a test match.

That was totally unreal. The two best matches of my lifetime have been played this summer. There have been better individual knocks or figures but in terms of closeness and that feeling of being fought to the last breath, well England vs NZ in the one-day game and now England vs Australia both in 2019.

And the world goes to hell; but I guess you can’t have everything.

I have congratulations and commiserations.

New Zealand didn't deserve to lose the most exciting one-day match in history. Their batting and bowling were superb. Nevertheless, congratters England. And phew! Last ball of the super over... talk about leaving it until the last moment.

Secondly, Federer didn't deserve to lose to Djokovic. Though Djokovic played well, Federer played brilliantly but couldn't manage the tie-breaks. A five-hour five-setter that rivalled any of the great matches of history.

But when it comes to the British Grand Prix, I may feel sorry for Bottas, but he had Professor Relentless on his tail until the safety car, after which Hamilton zoomed away. And it was a brilliant and exciting GP, especially for young Leclerc.

The kids were upset about Federer, as their mother is a big fan who played for Cambridge back in the day. They were happy about the Cricket, because I was. (I played quite a bit at school.) But they were really happy about Hamilton; whom they are big fans of. Neither Fred nor I ever drove in motor racing, but the kids adore it nevertheless.

The Cricket and the Men's final clashed quite significantly. There was lots of channel-switching going on. But what an afternoon/evening it was.
