For the past week and a bit we've been staying at Hackness Hall as the guest of Fra and Cressy.
It is so beautiful in the summer. Fra put us in his old apartment as we had young Henry to minister to.
Cressy is young Henry's Godmother, and it was her birthday at the weekend, so the house was, if not full (because it is a pretty big house), at least it was peopled with a goodly number of families and kids running about.
Fra put in a temporary swimming pool next to the summer house, which was much appreciated in the hot weather. North Yorkshire doesn't often get blisteringly hot, so in this instance it was all rather agreeable.
Although Fra and I differ slightly in politics and economic adherence there is something he said last night, whilst I was in my cups, with which I cannot disagree: psychologically, folk don't want to pay more than 50% of their incomes in taxation. Especially not if they have the upkeep and maintenance of a grade I listed building to add to their bills.
Well, we've extended our stay (at Fra and Cressy's request) until next Tuesday: so I doubt that I'll be doing an awful lot of LJ interaction until the middle of next week.
In the meantime, go well and do good things.
