It looks like [personal profile] ankh156  is coming over to pick up his 'Leslie' and hang out for a bit. He's picked a week for it, but never mind. Steve at TPA is going to be away on holiday (may he fare well and may all be well). I'm meant to be cat sitting for Nick. And what I want to do is sit and play guitar and talk music until it leaves me feeling slightly nauseous - good music 'drunks' are a wonderful thing, and occasionally I get lucky - like a mathematician with a number storm.
This sometimes happens with words too, but somehow it seems less deep than the Mathmo in numerical and algebraic ecstasy, or those snatches of perfect music where both the internal and external agree; and one plays with what seems like perfect expression; and the argument of ones notes is weighted, nuanced, and coherent.
I'm looking forward to meeting ankh. I suspect he's a very good player indeed. But as for any sort of civilised chap like that coping with staying in my hermitage.....I've really got to tidy up today.
And go shopping.
And buy food.

The things that some of us forget from time to time.
(There is a reason I weigh 145 lbs and am 6'2", and its not anything other than neglect of the most benign sort: I mean it's not as if I exercise.)

The cat will be happy with fish and a few minutes of your company so she can ignore you - and you can always play with the hi-fi.

Sorry to hear about Jeremy - all grim.

I do seem to remember you getting some exercise at some point: I was there.

My car has gone phut (although not terminally) and therefore plans/times for picking up keys may be subject to change (and can be if necessary anyway).

Thanks Em.
Well, just keep in touch.
You guys should meet ankh. Cool dude. Plays Guitar and Keys. And for different reasons I also think he should meet Kat....though he might be a bit long in the tooth for her, given that she prefers younger chaps.
Sorry about your car's non-terminal illness. They have very good doctors these days, and the poor thing needn't be crippled for life.

Well, I'm up in town tonight and tomorrow night, so meeting people coudl work. Ring Nick tonight if you can.

False modesty if you think I can forget the exercise.

It's really no problem. Whatever you'd prefer. Don't worry.
I'm blathering because I'm blathering because I'm a blatherer: as Joyce might have said.
Call me when you land in Blighty....as long as I'm kept informed, there'll be a hot cup of tea (some English habits are irreplaceable) awaiting your arrival.

I'm sort of jealous. When I forget about food, and then finally get around to it, my body goes, Right, we'll just stick this on your butt in case you forget about us again for an extended period of time. Oh well. I can be vindictive; I suppose it makes sense that my metabolism is too.

I love the toast marketing board icon. In England we have something Americans will never understand that we put on toast. It's called 'Marmite' and I won't even begin to explain, but it's one of the most definite and obvious signs in the game of spot-the-English-person.

Did you like 'First Among Sequels?' I really enjoyed it. Much funnier than Rowling, and much more knowing.
I'm between two-thirds and three-quarters of the way through cataloging my books on library thing. I've promised that I won't edit the embarrasing stuff out. What have I let myself in for?

You're twenty-mumble: the years of austere discipline and astringency still await you. If you start now it's easier, but it depends on your nature. I let other things slide....swings and roundabouts; motes and beams. Be happy in your shape and suit your shape to your happiness: self discipline is just a tool.
And as an encore, I'll lecture my poor dead grandma on the correct way of sucking eggs.
